Staff Profiles
Phil Holah
Managing Director, and Head of Sales & Design
Phil joined the company in 1995 and served his time on the site with his father Alan, before heading overseas to further his experience as a qualified quantity surveyor and architectural designer in Europe. When he returned to Holah Homes, Phil brought with him a unique combination of the good building practice he learned here in New Zealand, along with his overseas construction experience. He worked for the company as an estimator for 12 years before taking over the company from parents Alan and Beryl, along with his two brothers, in 2008. Aside from his position as Managing Director, Phil also heads up the company’s sales team and design team.
Grant Holah
Director & Project Manager
Grant joined Holah Homes Ltd in 1987 and worked alongside his father Alan, learning the Holah Homes values of outstanding quality and customer service. Today, Grant is a company director, and remains in charge of project management. He also manages the company’s apprentice training – an area he strongly feels is essential to the future of the company, and to the building industry as a whole.
Marty Holah
Head of Investments
From his base overseas, Marty manages the company’s investments. Of course, that’s when he’s not pursuing his career as a professional rugby player. Marty began helping out in the family business as a labourer, and assisting his father and brothers with general site work. While his rugby career has taken him overseas, he is still very much a part of the family business, and enjoys getting back ‘on site’ whenever he can.
Alan Holah
Lead Builder
Alan joined Holah Homes’ parent company, Clyde Holah Ltd, after completing his builders apprenticeship, and has been with the company ever since. Throughout his time in the building industry, Alan has been responsible for many housing, commercial and semi-commercial projects, so he has a wealth of knowledge and experience to offer. In 2008, Alan and his wife Beryl handed the company over to their three sons, but he remains active in the company today as Lead Builder.
Beryl Holah
Accounts Manager
In 1980 Beryl Holah started working for Holah Homes as a bookkeeper. By 1983 she had begun working on site as well, wallpapering and painting new houses. Beryl began working in her current role as full time Accounts Manager in 2003, and, despite having taken a step back from the company in recent years to allow her sons to run the business, Beryl still works for Holah Homes as Account Manager, and is a valued member of the team.
Steve Jenkins
Lead Designer
Heading up the Holah Homes design team is Steve Jenkins, who has an illustrious career as both a joiner and designer behind him. Steve began working as a joiner’s apprentice in 1991, and proved himself an exceptional talent by winning both the 1992 and 1993 Apprentice of the Year competitions. He also won the Waikato Skills Olympic in 1995, and in 1996 started his own very successful joinery company.
However, in 2005, Steve was ready for a change and decided to branc out into building, closely followed by a spell of further education with a NZ Diploma in Architectural Technologies (NZDAT) in 2008. He started working with Holah Homes in 2009 as a designer, and quickly progressed up the ranks to become Lead Designer. Steve continues to win awards for his work, including the Te Kopua Pap Kainga Design Award in 2010.
Shelesha Voyle
Architectural Design Team
Shelesha started working for Holah Homes in 2010, and is currently in her final year of full-time study towards a National Diploma in Architectural Technology. She chose her career path because of her desire to work in a creative industry, and she enjoys the collaborative process of turning ideas into a design, whilst making it work structurally. She also says she likes the personal nature of residential design, as opposed to commercial projects, and is excited about the future of the industry and her own career in design & build homes.
